TAMPA, Aug 12: U.S. Central Command said Wednesday that American forces have redirected 59 commercial vessels, disabled three and boarded two as part of what it described as enforcement of a “steel wall blockade” against Iran.

In a post on X, CENTCOM said an F/A-18 fighter jet launched from the flight deck of the USS George H.W. Bush while the aircraft carrier operated in regional waters in support of the blockade.

CENTCOM said the actions were carried out to ensure commercial vessels comply with the U.S. measures against Iran. The statement did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the three vessels it said had been disabled or the two that were boarded.

The announcement comes amid heightened maritime tensions in the region, with shipping and commercial navigation facing increased security concerns and disruptions.
