WASHINGTON, Aug. 7: US forces have redirected 51 commercial vessels as part of a blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Friday.
CENTCOM said its forces had also disabled two vessels and boarded two others while enforcing the blockade and ensuring compliance with US measures.
The command shared the update on X alongside an image of a sailor aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Mason, which is operating in regional waters in support of the blockade.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for global energy shipments.
