USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72)
CENTCOM, April 17: U.S. military forces have stepped up blockade operations in the Arabian Sea and across the Middle East, according to a series of updates from U.S. Central Command on April 16.
The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) is currently leading maritime operations in the Arabian Sea, deployed with a full carrier air wing that includes advanced F-35C stealth fighters, F/A-18 jets, EA-18G electronic warfare aircraft, E-2D command-and-control planes, as well as MH-60 helicopters and CMV-22B Osprey aircraft for logistical support.
Supporting the mission, sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119) remain on active watch, enforcing restrictions on vessels attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports and coastal areas.
CENTCOM also highlighted broader regional readiness, noting that U.S. forces remain “forward and ready” across its area of responsibility. This includes U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons conducting readiness flights, demonstrating rapid response capabilities.
In parallel, U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, alongside sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD-18), are actively supporting blockade operations.
The updates underscore a coordinated, multi-domain military posture, with naval, air, and amphibious forces positioned to enforce the blockade and maintain heightened vigilance amid ongoing regional tensions.
