WASHINGTON, July 17: The US military has denied Iranian claims that American troops were killed or captured during an alleged attack on the Al-Tanf Garrison in Syria, describing the reports as false.

In a statement posted on X on Friday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, "No U.S. troops in the region have recently been killed or captured," rejecting claims circulated by Iran following its latest retaliatory operations.

Earlier, Iran said it had targeted US military sites in six Arab countries, including the Al-Tanf base in southeastern Syria, in response to recent US strikes on Iranian territory. Iranian media also claimed the attacks resulted in casualties among American personnel.

CENTCOM's statement directly contradicted those claims, and there was no independent confirmation that the Al-Tanf base had come under attack.

The denial came as regional tensions continued to escalate, with Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan reporting that they had intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting their territories earlier on Friday.
