KUWAIT CITY, June 17: During her visit to Diwan Al-Bahr, U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait Karen Hideko Sasahara called for greater efforts from Kuwait to attract foreign investment and foster a more competitive, investor-friendly business environment. She emphasized that such efforts are vital for enhancing Kuwait’s economic position and aligning with global developments. Ambassador Sasahara reaffirmed the strength and depth of U.S.-Kuwaiti relations, particularly in the areas of education and economic cooperation. She noted that the U.S. Embassy is actively working to streamline visa procedures for Kuwaiti students studying in the United States, underscoring the importance of supporting their educational journey.

In her remarks, the Ambassador stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between Washington and Kuwait to promote regional stability, especially amid the current geopolitical tensions. Engaging in an open dialogue with attendees at Diwan Al-Bahr, Ambassador Sasahara explored their perspectives on the future of Kuwait’s business climate. She inquired about both government and private-sector initiatives aimed at strengthening the non-oil economy as a strategic approach to addressing fiscal deficits and diversifying national income sources. On the topic of higher education, she reassured Kuwaiti students of the Embassy’s commitment to facilitating the visa process.
