KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: The U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Steven Butler, described the “Cars and Coffee” event as a unique celebration combining automotive passion with coffee culture for creating stronger community ties. His remarks come at a time when the United States is preparing for year-long celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of its founding. Speaking at the event held recently at the embassy, Butler highlighted the American automotive industry’s long history of inspiring people globally.

He expressed pride in showcasing this heritage through the diverse display of modern and classic cars, and specifically praised the participants for the exceptional quality and variety of vehicles, which reflected their owners’ dedication and attention to detail. Following the car display, awards for “Best New Car” and “Best Classic Car” were presented. Butler congratulated the winners and expressed his gratitude to the event’s partners, exhibitors, and volunteers. He credited their dedication and creativity as essential to the event’s success and smooth execution. In his closing remarks, Butler thanked all attendees for participating and expressed his hope that such events would continue to foster dialogue and strengthen community engagement. Acting US Embassy Chief Steven Butler and Spokesperson Stuart Turner during the event

Meanwhile, Stuart Turner, spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy, explained that the “Cars and Coffee” event was organized to celebrate American culture. It aimed to showcase the innovation and creativity of American products, with a particular emphasis on the automotive sector. The exhibition showcased both classic and modern American vehicles, highlighting the nation’s manufacturing legacy and technological advancements. In addition to the car exhibition, an open-air entertainment area was set up, complete with food trucks and complimentary activities for children, taking advantage of the pleasant weather and promoting cultural exchange.

Turner said organizing the event also helped compensate for the postponement of the annual U.S. Independence Day celebration, which is normally held in November but has been rescheduled to the spring. He emphasized the embassy’s commitment to hosting events that celebrate American culture and provide a welcoming environment for local community members and friends to participate. In addition, Turner stated that the event serves as an early introduction to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and offers a preview of several major U.S.-related events planned for the near future, including the World Cup. Turner expressed hope that these activities would successfully spark interest among both American and Kuwaiti audiences.

Elaborating on the event’s concept, he explained that “Cars and Coffee” originated in California as an informal weekend gathering where car enthusiasts would meet to share their passion for automobiles over a cup of coffee. He also acknowledged the local “Cars and Coffee Kuwait” group, which regularly organizes similar meetups, and expressed the embassy’s strong interest in exploring potential future collaborations with them.
