WASHINGTON, Jul 23: The United States has deployed a B-1 long-range bomber in airstrikes against Iran for the first time since hostilities resumed 12 days ago, according to a report by Axios citing US officials.
The report said the B-1 bomber was used in Tuesday's strikes targeting positions linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), marking a significant escalation in Washington's ongoing military campaign.
The B-1 is capable of carrying large payloads of conventional bombs or dozens of cruise missiles, giving the US military greater long-range strike capability against Iranian targets.
The deployment comes as the US continues an intensified series of military operations against Iran, expanding the range of assets used in the campaign amid heightened regional tensions.
