WASHINGTON (AP), Apr 14: The United States Navy has positioned 16 warships across the Middle East, even as questions remain over how a blockade of Iran would be enforced.

According to U.S. defense officials, the deployment includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, along with 11 destroyers, three amphibious assault ships, and a littoral combat ship operating in regional waters.

However, a second defense official said no American warships are currently stationed داخل the Persian Gulf, which borders much of Iran’s coastline, highlighting the complexity of any potential blockade.

Both officials, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of military operations, provided limited details on how restrictions on Iranian ports would be implemented.

Donald Trump has said the blockade took effect Monday, but officials indicated that operational specifics are still being developed. A notice to mariners suggests access to Iranian ports is being restricted, though the exact mechanisms of enforcement remain unclear.

The developments come amid heightened regional tensions and uncertainty over how maritime restrictions could impact global shipping and energy markets.
