US Defense Chief Warns Iran to Accept Nuclear Deal or Face Military Action

SINGAPORE, May 29: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned Iran on Friday that it could face American military action if it fails to accept the nuclear agreement currently being offered by Washington.

Speaking during a visit to US troops aboard the USS Boxer in Singapore, Hegseth echoed remarks made by President Donald Trump at a recent Cabinet meeting, where the president said Tehran must either accept the proposed deal or face potential military consequences.

Hegseth's comments underscored the administration’s continued pressure campaign on Iran amid heightened tensions over Tehran’s nuclear activities and regional influence.

The USS Boxer, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, serves as a key platform for Marine expeditionary operations. The vessel is capable of transporting Marines, aircraft, vehicles, and landing craft, enabling rapid deployment in coastal and amphibious missions.

The ship can also support helicopter operations and Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) hovercraft, making it a versatile asset for a range of military contingencies. However, Hegseth did not outline any specific operational plans related to Iran during his visit.

His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and growing regional tensions, with Washington continuing to insist that Iran accept the terms of a proposed agreement aimed at addressing concerns over its nuclear program.
