WASHINGTON, Jun 26: The United States is considering relocating some of its military operations from the Persian Gulf to Israel after Iranian missile and drone strikes caused extensive damage to its naval base in Bahrain, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The report said the attacks repeatedly struck Naval Support Activity Bahrain, home to the US Fifth Fleet, between late February and June. Citing satellite imagery, verified social media videos, and interviews with current and former US service members, the newspaper reported that the strikes damaged the base's command headquarters, at least a dozen other buildings, and two satellite communications terminals.

The reported damage has prompted Washington to reassess the vulnerability of its military infrastructure across the Gulf amid growing concerns over future Iranian attacks.

According to two US officials quoted by the Journal, the Pentagon is considering refurbishing the Bahrain facility while reducing its military footprint in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Some operations could be shifted farther west, with Israel emerging as a potential alternative location.

The move, if approved, would represent a significant adjustment in the US military posture in the Middle East, reflecting concerns that key Gulf installations remain highly exposed to Iran's expanding missile and drone capabilities.

The report suggests that Iran's sustained campaign against US military facilities has triggered a broader strategic review of Washington's regional defense network as it seeks to safeguard personnel and maintain operational readiness in the event of future hostilities.

US officials have not publicly confirmed any decision to relocate forces, and discussions on the proposed restructuring are reportedly ongoing.
