US Considers ‘Operation Sledgehammer’ Name if Iran Truce Collapses

WASHINGTON, May 12: US President Donald Trump has accused media outlets of “aiding and abetting” Iran by portraying Tehran as performing well militarily against the United States, calling such reporting “treacherous” and claiming it gives Iran “false hope.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said reports suggesting Iran is doing well militarily were “false” and “preposterous,” adding: “They are aiding and abetting the enemy! All it does is give Iran false hope when none should exist.”

He further claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been severely degraded, saying its naval and air forces were no longer operational and describing the country’s leadership as weakened. He also criticized what he called “Fake News” outlets, accusing them of undermining US interests.

Separately, US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a new designation for potential future military operations involving Iran if a ceasefire collapses.

According to NBC News, the US military is evaluating the name “Operation Sledgehammer” as a possible title for renewed combat operations. The report cited two US officials, saying any restart of military action would be conducted under a new operational name.

The report also stated that a new designation could effectively restart the 60-day congressional authorization timeline for military action, though it noted that “Operation Sledgehammer” is only one of several names under consideration.
