KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Kuwait Club reaffirmed its supremacy in local basketball by clinching the Basketball Super Cup for the 10th time in its history, defeating Qadisia 122–99 in the final held recently at the Basketball Federation Hall inside the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Complex. Qurain finished third after edging Kazma 93–92.
This year’s edition featured a new format, with the top four teams from last season’s league participating instead of the traditional setup that included only the league and cup champions.
With this latest triumph — its 10th in 11 editions (Kazma won in 2022) and third consecutive title — Kuwait Club further cemented its dominance on the domestic stage, coming just days after winning the Arab Championship in Dubai.
Kuwait Club was in control from the opening tip, showcasing its trademark dominance. Kuwait Club quickly imposed its rhythm, storming ahead 24–3 before closing the first quarter at 34–14. The team maintained a commanding 20-point advantage throughout most of the game, extending it beyond 30 points at times — a rare gap in a final between two title contenders. Kuwait Club led 70–37 at halftime and 99–78 after the third quarter, never allowing Qadsia a chance to recover.
The final period followed the same trend, with Kuwait Club’s players maintaining their grip on the game while Qadsia struggled to find its form.
Bader Al-Asaimi, Kuwait Club’s Basketball Director and Club Vice President, praised the players for their mental sharpness, particularly after their recent continental success — a situation that often leads to a dip in focus in local tournaments.
He also revealed that Club President Khaled Al-Ghanem promised generous financial rewards to the players in recognition of their Super Cup victory.
