WASHINGTON, Jan 17, (Agencies): On Tuesday, an incident on All Nippon Airways (ANA) Flight 118 traveling from Tokyo to the US compelled the aircraft to return to Haneda Airport. Reports indicate that a 55-year-old intoxicated male passenger, said to be heavily drunk, bit the arm of a crew member during the flight. The ANA spokesperson confirmed the incident, and the flight, initially bound for Seattle, diverted back to Haneda Airport, where it had taken off at 9:47 pm local time.

With 159 passengers on board, the flight's unexpected return was documented by the live air traffic website Flight Radar 24. The assaulted crew member, a female, suffered minor injuries during the altercation. The unruly passenger, identified as a US national, was promptly apprehended by the authorities upon the plane's arrival in Tokyo.

In his statement to investigators after landing, the 55-year-old passenger claimed to have no recollection of his actions onboard the flight. The incident remains under investigation, and as of now, no further details have been disclosed regarding the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
