KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, personally supervised a security operation that led to the seizure and closure of an unlicensed Husseiniya operating inside a private residence, following investigations into social media content found to violate the law and threaten public order.

The Ministry of Interior said the action came as part of ongoing efforts by the Criminal Security Sector to monitor and follow up on content published across social media platforms. Authorities identified an account that was disseminating material capable of inciting sectarian tension by reenacting historical events from the perspectives of specific figures in a manner that contravenes Kuwait’s laws and regulations. This prompted immediate intervention by the relevant security authorities.

According to the Ministry, field investigations and surveillance revealed that the content was being filmed inside a Husseiniya established without a license within a residential property. The premises were being used to conduct religious rituals in violation of the law, resulting in disturbances to neighboring residents and a breach of public order.

The Ministry explained that the Husseiniya had been deliberately fitted and prepared internally to simulate real-life scenes, including the construction of dedicated sets and the use of specialized equipment, tools, and accessories. These preparations constituted a clear violation of legal provisions and an evident infringement of public order regulations governing residential areas.

Officials further disclosed that the filming location posed a serious safety hazard, as it contained highly flammable materials and improperly installed electrical extensions that failed to meet safety standards. These conditions were deemed to pose a direct threat to lives and property.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that legal measures have been taken against those responsible for managing the site, who have been referred to the competent authorities. The unlicensed Husseiniya was immediately closed, and coordination was carried out with Kuwait Municipality to remove external encroachments and implement the necessary measures within its jurisdiction to address the violations and prevent their recurrence.

Commenting on the operation, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef Al-Sabah stressed that the Ministry of Interior will not tolerate any practices that violate the law, regardless of justification or pretext. He said that enforcement actions will be swift, firm, and without exception to preserve public order, ensure the comfort of residents, and safeguard community security.

He added that the Criminal Security Sector, along with all security agencies, will continue to carry out their duties with full authority and determination, affirming that no illegal activities or gatherings that disrupt public order or disturb residents will be permitted. The application of the law, he emphasized, is unwavering, and the security and stability of society remain non-negotiable priorities.

The Ministry of Interior concluded by calling on citizens and residents to cooperate with security authorities and report any violations or negative practices through official channels, underscoring the importance of community partnership in maintaining security and stability across the country.
