KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, stated that the emergency team of the ministry immediately closed hotel apartments in a building in Ahmadi Governorate, in coordination with the General Department of Criminal Investigation. The closure is due to the establishment operating with an expired commercial license. The necessary legal measures were taken against the violator. In a press statement Monday, Al-Ansari revealed that the closed establishment had been operating without a valid license since 2023 -- a violation of the relevant regulations.
“This necessitated immediate intervention and closure to maintain public order and protect the rights of consumers and guests,” he stressed. He confirmed that this action is part of the tasks of the committee responsible for inspecting tourist establishments and hotel apartments. He said this committee plays a crucial role in monitoring the conditions of these establishments, ensuring the validity of licenses, and verifying compliance with legal and regulatory requirements to guarantee the protection of guests’ rights and maintain the standard of tourism services in the country.
He pointed out that the committee operates according to a comprehensive oversight plan that includes field visits and continuous coordination with relevant government agencies, primarily security authorities, to address any violations that affect public order or compromise the safety of tourism activities. He asserted that engaging in any commercial activity without a valid license is a serious violation that warrants immediate legal action. He warned that the ministry will not hesitate to enforce the law against any violating establishment, pointing out that the aim of these measures is not punishment, but rather to rectify the situation, regulate the tourism market, and improve services.
