Swooping Eagles sweep Lolos’ Strikers

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: On the final elimination week of the on-going Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait Tenpin Bowling Tournament 2018 Elite Challenge Cup held at COZMO Entertainment and Bowling Center in Kaifan, the top two teams and lowest two teams’ switched positions after the final games.

Although COZMO Lane Masters subdued Pin Pals 2896-2484, still UNIMONI Exchange snatched the prime position when they repulsed the Green Apples’ Strikers 3020-2624. Another overwhelming result was the game won by Swooping Eagles over Lolos’ Strikers 3012-2667 which lessen the difference from 588 to 243 points and SKARZ who played bye brought down Pin Pals to replace them as cellar dweller.

UNIMONI Exchange erased an eight-mark deficit on the way to a 3020-2624 victory over Green Apples Strikers to dethrone COZMO Lane Masters as league leader from game one to eight of the elimination round. UNIMONI snatched the number one position from the Lane Masters with forty two-point advantage.

It was an easy task for the Exchange King to demolished the Green Apples when they swept the 3-game series 1024-851, 999-921, 972-852. UNIMONI used its Arab firepowers’ Fadi Al Masri (566), Mohamad Karam (534), Neveen Wasel (530), Rashid Aker Ali (493) and Feras Al Muhareb (476).

For the Green Apples’ top scorer was Imelda Calingasan (474) supported by Gener Calingasan (312), Mohammad Othman (309), Jhon Narvasa (283), Alex Cervantes (270), Neng Cervantes (248), Adolfo Prena (140) and Jocelyn Barros (96). Clinton Cathers and Jessica Balagat shine in Swooping Eagles win over Lolos’ Strikers 3012-2667 but not enough to grab the last ticket from the late bloomers to the team finals.

The deficit is too huge, a 588 points and they just produce 345 points to reduce the difference to 243 points. The Swooping Eagles scratched the 3-game series against the old timers 1057- 918, 987-849, 943-900. After the last throw, both teams registered three wins, five losses and a bye games in the elimination round. Swooping Eagles top scorers were Clinton (529) and Jessica (512) assisted by Darrell Sullivan (493), Mona Corpuz (424) and Riz Roque (420) while Lolos bowlers were Abel Nitikusumo (478), Joe Presenta (417), Cris Carungay (314), Rocky Castil (296), Reygan Percy (293), Bima Nitikusumo (249) and Leila Cervantes (128).

A non-bearing game was between the all Arab bowlers team Al Qwassem and the TGIF the all Filipino squad were Al Qwassem prevailed over the TGIF, 2806-2767. In the first game TGIF dominated the game 1007-836 but in the second game All Qwassem retaliated with the superb performance of Ali Al Qassem (244), Yaqoub Al Shatti (241) and Fadel Al Qassem (201) with scores of 1038-923 and in the final game the all Filipino squad played below par despite 56 points advantage and the Fadel’s team won the game 907- 837. top pointers were Yaqoub Al Shatti (626), Fadel Al Qassem (603) and Ali Al Qassem (580) with Saleh Faraj (370) and Mariam Fahad Al Zaid (318) while TGIF best pointer was Moises Amahan (509), Joel Tizon (478), Eddie Pena (460), Rene Marzan (436), Mar Evangelista (302) and Pilar Patula (117). After the game both teams recorded five wins, three losses and bye game.

Finally, Despite C0ZMO Lane Masters sweeping the game against Pin Pals 2896-2484, UNIMONI seized the throne and left them nursing in the second place but still happy because of playing free lane fee for seven weeks.

The straight sets scores’ were 929-837, 1027-838, 915-809 with Noe Mahayag (551) as top scorer followed by Bader Malalah (522), Ronell (521), Lito Michael (462) and Ely Ebrada (449) while Pin Pals 4-man team were Allan Fernandes (461), Avinash Mathews (427), Raj Reddy (367) and Diego Camilo (359). With the loss, Pin Pals was down to ninth spot. SKARZ played bye and produced their highest score of 2835 points that lifted them to eight spot.

The bowlers were Ignatius Fernandes (523), Stephen Sequiera (441), Melwin Isaac (435), Amaldo Fernandes (411), Kathy Fernandes (136), Fatima Fernandes (123) and Eden Danan (122). Meanwhile, in the individual best, in Individual High Game, in Mens’ Class A – controlled by Noel Mahayag (245); Class B was held by Bader Malalah (236); Class C, Avinash Mathew (222) and in Ladies Class A- Sonia Mathews (213) and in LB – Abel Nitikusumo snatched from Mona Corpuz (199-186). In the Individual High Average there were no changes only the points, in Mens’ Class A, Ibrahim Al Jadi (188.6); Mens’ Class B, Rashid Aker (177.9); Class C-Mohammad Othman (172.2); and in Ladies A- Sonia Mathews (187.7) and Ladies B- Imelda Calingasan (154.9).
