NEW DELHI, Dec 6: The traditional dance form of Garba has recently earned a prestigious spot on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity, curated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity aims to highlight elements of intangible heritage that contribute to showcasing the richness and diversity of cultures while promoting awareness of their significance.

Bhupendera Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, expressed his delight on social media platform X, describing the inclusion of Garba in the UNESCO list as a "moment of pride for Gujarat and India." In his X post, Patel remarked, "The acknowledgment of Garba on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list is a source of immense pride for Gujarat and India. It symbolizes global recognition of our ancient cultural heritage."

G. Kishan Reddy, the BJP chief of Telangana, also took to social media to share his thoughts on the achievement. He asserted that the inclusion of Garba in the list is a testament to the "unwavering efforts of the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to showcase our nation's rich cultural traditions and heritage to the world."
