Andy Byron, the 50-year-old CEO of billion-dollar AI startup Astronomer, has resigned in disgrace after being caught in a compromising moment with his colleague, HR chief Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert in Boston. The pair were shown on the kiss-cam with Byron's arm around Cabot, prompting immediate backlash and an internal investigation by the company.
Following the incident, which quickly went viral—partly due to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joking about the couple on stage—Byron was placed on leave last Friday. On Saturday, Astronomer announced that he had officially stepped down, emphasizing its commitment to leadership accountability and company values.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the company stated. Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has been appointed interim CEO.
Public records indicate that both Byron and Cabot are married but do not live with their respective spouses. Cabot is reportedly married to Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum, with whom she shares a history of public appearances. Byron’s wife, Megan Byron, has since removed his surname from her social media profiles.
Astronomer, known for its work in DataOps and AI infrastructure, acknowledged the awkwardness of the situation in its statement but reassured customers that the company’s services remain unaffected: “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”

Cabot joined the company as HR head in late 2024, with Byron publicly praising her leadership and fit within the team. Their now-controversial relationship has overshadowed Astronomer’s rapid growth under Byron’s leadership, and the company continues to face scrutiny as its internal investigation proceeds.
