UN Special Rapporteur briefed on Kuwait’s efforts to protect women and children
UN Special Rapporteur on violence visits new maternity hospital.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Kuwait’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday highlighted its national programs to protect women and support victims of violence during a visit by UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Alsalem, to the new maternity hospital.

The Ministry said Alsalem was briefed on specialized health care, prevention, and support services, as well as initiatives to enhance women’s rights and status. She also visited the Child Protection Office, where officials outlined its role in strengthening social and health protection systems for both women and children.

The Ministry stressed that the visit marks an important step in boosting international cooperation and showcasing Kuwait’s achievements in the field of women’s and children’s rights. It reaffirmed its commitment to developing services in line with international standards and humanitarian obligations.

Alsalem was received by Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services Dr. Hisham Kalander, alongside several ministry officials and department heads.
