Ukraine Hits Iran-Linked Military Cargo Vessels on Russia’s Caspian Supply Route

KYIV, Jul 25: Ukraine said on Saturday that it carried out long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea, targeting a Russian warship and vessels it said were involved in transporting Iran-linked military cargo.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the strikes achieved “very strong results” and included attacks on vessels used for military shipments connected to Iran.

“We also achieved very strong results with long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea - including vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran,” Zelenskiy said in a post on X.

Ukraine did not provide further details on the type of vessels targeted, the weapons used in the strikes, or the extent of damage caused.

The Caspian Sea has been used as a strategic route for Russia’s military logistics, with Kyiv previously accusing Moscow of receiving military support and equipment through international supply networks.

The reported strikes come as Ukraine continues to expand its use of long-range weapons against Russian military assets beyond the traditional battlefield areas.
