UK says Iran can’t be allowed to hold global economy hostage

LONDON (AP), Mar 27: UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has called for a “swift resolution” to the ongoing Middle East conflict and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking at a meeting of G7 foreign ministers on the outskirts of Paris, Cooper warned that Iran’s actions in blocking international shipping through the key waterway are undermining the global economy. She stressed that Iran must not be allowed to “hold the global economy hostage,” highlighting the strait’s critical role in global oil shipments and freedom of navigation.
