LONDON, Oct 3: A 25-year-old British-Iranian man arrested in connection with a suspected terrorist incident near RAF Fairford has been released on bail, British counter-terrorism police said Saturday. The man was arrested in Westminster on Thursday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, and police have now completed searches of two properties in the area.

The investigation began after police received reports on September 27 of suspicious vehicles and masked people near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. Five British men in their 20s were arrested in connection with the incident and were subsequently released on police bail while the investigation continued. Police said no improvised explosive devices were found in the vehicles, although a quantity of petrol was recovered.

Counter Terrorism Policing has said investigators are examining multiple lines of inquiry, including possible foreign-state involvement, but have not publicly established who was behind the suspected activity or its motive. The latest suspect has not been charged, and his release on bail does not mean the investigation has ended.
