LONDON, Apr 7: Military planners from more than 30 countries have discussed potential post-conflict security arrangements to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible and safe following a possible ceasefire in the Middle East conflict, according to the UK government.
The UK Ministry of Defence said it hosted a virtual conference after a recent UK-led diplomatic meeting involving around 40 countries focused on the critical shipping route, which has faced disruptions since early March.
According to the statement, discussions centered on forming an international coalition and translating diplomatic consensus into practical military planning to secure navigation through the waterway.
The ministry added that further planning meetings will be held in due course to continue coordination efforts.
