LONDON, April 4, 2026 — The UK Ministry of Defence said its military aircraft and naval assets have continued defensive operations across the Middle East, with fighter jets and helicopters conducting overnight missions over Cyprus, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The operations, now in their fifth week, involve Typhoon jets supported by Wildcat helicopters as part of efforts to safeguard UK personnel and regional partners.
The ministry said additional assets have been deployed in recent weeks, including F-35 fighter jets, enhanced air defence systems, counter-drone teams and surveillance capabilities such as the Crowsnest airborne system. Naval support has also been reinforced with the deployment of the HMS Dragon, alongside Merlin helicopters and extra personnel.
Officials stressed that force protection measures remain at the highest levels, as the UK continues to strengthen its defensive posture in response to ongoing regional tensions.
