LONDON, Jul 13: The UK government has proscribed Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) under new state-threat powers, making it a criminal offense to support or assist the organization in the United Kingdom, according to Sky News.
Security Minister Angela Eagle said the designation was made in response to activities linked to threats to life and intimidation within the UK. Under the new measures, inviting support for the IRGC, expressing support for it, assisting its UK-related activities, or accepting material benefits from the group will now constitute criminal offenses.
The British government also designated the Iran-linked Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right and a volunteer corps associated with Russia's GRU military intelligence agency under the new powers, the report said.
