UK Defence Forces Report Downing of Iranian Drones

LONDON, Apr 2: The UK Ministry of Defence reported that Royal Air Force Regiment gunners operating in a high-threat area successfully downed multiple Iranian drones overnight.

According to the statement dated 2 April 2026, UK Typhoon and F-35 fighter jets, along with Wildcat helicopters, continued defensive air operations across the region as part of ongoing security deployments.

The Ministry also confirmed that next week the UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters will convene a meeting of military planners to assess viable options aimed at ensuring safe and accessible navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Officials said the discussions will focus on practical measures to support maritime security and protect commercial shipping routes amid continued regional tensions.
