ABU DHABI, Mar 31: United Arab Emirates has announced a significant increase in fuel prices for the coming month, with gasoline rising by over 30% and diesel surging by more than 70%, according to official pricing updates released on Tuesday.
Authorities said the monthly adjustment reflects international oil price movements, which have spiked amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions affecting global energy supply routes, including concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
Under the new rates, diesel will increase to 4.69 dirhams per litre ($1.28), up from 2.72 dirhams. Premium gasoline will be priced at 3.39 dirhams per litre ($0.92), reflecting a sharp upward revision compared to the previous month.
Officials noted that fuel pricing in the UAE is reviewed monthly in line with global benchmarks, ensuring alignment with international market trends.
