KUWAIT CITY, May 16: During its recent meeting, the UAE Cabinet has greenlit the introduction of a novel residency category dubbed as the "Blue Residency." This residency option marks the nation's first long-term visa tailored for individuals showcasing exceptional dedication and achievements in the realms of environmental preservation and sustainability, both domestically and internationally.

The "Blue Residency" is a decade-long visa (10 yr visa) envisaged specifically for advocates of environmental causes. Eligible candidates include members of global organizations and corporations, participants in associations and non-governmental organizations, recipients of international accolades, as well as contributors to environmental initiatives, encompassing esteemed activists and researchers within the UAE, along with residents championing environmental stewardship.

Applicants can obtain the "Blue Residency" through a streamlined application process, directly through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security. Alternatively, individuals can be nominated by competent authorities within the country.
