ABU DHABI, May 10: The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted and engaged two drones launched from Iran.
In a statement, the ministry said the interceptions took place on May 10, adding that no deaths or injuries were reported in the past several hours.
The ministry stated that since the beginning of what it described as “blatant Iranian attacks,” UAE air defenses have intercepted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,265 drones.
Authorities said the overall death toll since the onset of the attacks stands at 12, including two Emirati martyrs and a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the Armed Forces, in addition to civilian fatalities of various nationalities including Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian citizens.
The total number of injuries has reached 230, involving individuals from multiple nationalities, the statement added.
The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed the UAE Armed Forces’ full readiness to confront any threats targeting the country’s security, sovereignty, and stability.
