ABU DHABI, March 6 — The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence announced on Friday that national air defenses intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 109 drones targeting the country earlier today, amid what officials described as “blatant Iranian aggression.”
According to the Ministry, a total of 112 drones were detected, with 109 successfully destroyed midair while three fell within UAE territory. No major damage was reported from the latest incident.
Since the onset of the current hostilities, UAE defense systems have detected 205 ballistic missiles, destroying 190, with 13 landing in the sea and two within the country’s borders, the statement added. Additionally, 1,184 drones have been tracked, with 1,110 intercepted and 74 falling onto UAE soil. Air defenses also destroyed eight cruise missiles detected during the same period.
The Ministry confirmed that the attacks have so far caused three fatalities — a Pakistani, a Nepalese, and a Bangladeshi national — along with 112 minor injuries among residents of various nationalities.
Authorities said response teams and emergency services remain on high alert, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to protecting its citizens and residents against ongoing security threats.
