ABU DHABI, March 23: United Arab Emirates air defence systems intercepted 7 ballistic missiles and 16 drones launched from Iran on Monday, as hostilities in the region continue to escalate.
Since the onset of what authorities described as Iranian aggression, UAE forces have engaged a total of 352 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,789 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to the UAE Ministry of Defence.
The attacks have resulted in the deaths of two UAE armed forces personnel while on duty, along with six civilian fatalities of various nationalities, including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian citizens. A total of 161 people have also been injured, with cases ranging from minor to severe, involving nationals from multiple countries.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its full readiness to respond to any threats, stating it would firmly confront attempts to undermine national security while ensuring the protection of the country’s sovereignty, stability, and vital interests.
