ABU DHABI, Mar 22: The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that air defence systems intercepted four ballistic missiles and 25 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on March 22, 2026.
The ministry said that since the onset of what it described as “blatant Iranian aggression,” UAE air defences have successfully engaged a total of 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,773 UAVs.
The attacks have resulted in the deaths of two members of the UAE armed forces while performing their national duty. Additionally, six civilians of various nationalities — including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian — were killed.
A total of 160 people have been injured, with cases ranging from minor to severe. The injured include nationals from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its full readiness to respond to any threats, stating it will firmly counter any attempts to undermine the country’s security while ensuring the protection of its sovereignty, stability, and national interests.
