UAE Intercepts 12 Missiles, 2 Cruise Missiles and 19 Drones in Latest Wave of Iranian Attacks; Injuries Rise to 221

The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems intercepted a fresh wave of aerial threats early Monday, as regional tensions continued to escalate.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that on April 6, 2026, its forces successfully engaged 12 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles, and 19 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.

The latest incident adds to a growing tally of interceptions since the outbreak of hostilities. According to the ministry, UAE air defences have so far neutralised:

  • 519 ballistic missiles
  • 26 cruise missiles
  • 2,210 UAVs

Authorities described the attacks as “blatant,” reiterating that defence systems remain on high alert to counter incoming threats.

Civilian Impact and Injuries

The ministry reported that the latest wave resulted in four injuries, ranging from minor to severe. This brings the total number of injuries to 221 since the beginning of the attacks.

Those affected include residents from a wide range of nationalities, reflecting the UAE’s diverse population. Among them are citizens and expatriates from countries such as India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Sudan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and several others across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Fatalities and Casualties

No deaths were reported in the most recent incidents. However, cumulative figures indicate:

  • 2 martyrs since the start of the attacks
  • An additional Moroccan civilian contractor working with the armed forces who was killed
  • 10 civilian fatalities overall, involving individuals from Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian nationalities

Defence Readiness and Response

The UAE Ministry of Defence emphasized that it remains fully prepared to respond to any escalation. It stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to:

  • Protect national sovereignty
  • Ensure the safety of residents
  • Safeguard critical infrastructure and national capabilities

Officials reaffirmed that the armed forces will continue to act decisively against any threats to the country’s security and stability, while urging the public to rely on official sources for updates.
