UAE Intercept 16 Missiles and Over 100 Drones; Death Toll Rises to Four

ABU DHABI, March 8:The UAE’s air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of hostile projectiles launched toward the country on Sunday, as authorities confirmed additional casualties from the recent wave of attacks.

According to official reports, UAE air defences detected 17 ballistic missiles on March 8, destroying 16 of them, while one missile fell into the sea without causing damage. In addition, 117 drones were detected, of which 113 were intercepted, while four fell within the country’s territory.

Authorities confirmed that the death toll has risen to four following the death of another Pakistani expatriate on Saturday, March 7. The other victims were nationals of Nepal and Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Interior further reported that 112 people sustained minor to moderate injuries. The injured include citizens and residents of multiple nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, and Turkish nationals.

Emergency response teams and medical services continue to work across affected areas as authorities assess the situation and ensure public safety.
