ABU DHABI, April 20: The United Arab Emirates State Security Department announced it has dismantled a terrorist organization accused of plotting to undermine national security and destabilize the country through coordinated sabotage operations.

In an official statement, authorities said the group had been engaged in clandestine activities aimed at weakening national unity and carrying out systematic attacks within the UAE. Investigations revealed that the organization maintained links to Iran’s Velayat-e Faqih “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist,” a reference to the governing doctrine of the Islamic Republic.

According to the statement, members of the cell adopted extremist ideologies and conducted recruitment and indoctrination efforts through secret meetings, both inside the UAE and abroad. These activities were allegedly coordinated with external actors, with the goal of infiltrating sensitive locations and expanding the group’s influence.

Authorities said the suspects also held covert meetings with individuals described as terrorist operatives and members of suspicious organizations. The group is accused of spreading misleading narratives among Emirati youth, encouraging allegiance to foreign entities, inciting opposition to state policies, and attempting to tarnish the country’s image internationally.

Investigators further alleged that the network collected funds through unofficial channels and transferred money to foreign entities deemed suspicious.

Charges against those arrested include forming and managing a secret organization, pledging allegiance to foreign groups, and actions deemed harmful to national unity and social cohesion.

The State Security Department emphasized its commitment to confronting threats to public safety and urged citizens and residents to report suspicious activities through official channels.

Authorities released the names of 27 individuals accused in connection with the case.
