ABU DHABI, Oct 1: The United Arab Emirates has condemned the killing and wounding of crew members of the hijacked oil products tanker MT Honour 25 off the coast of Somalia during an operation to free the vessel.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constitute a grave threat to maritime security and the safety of international trade routes.
The ministry expressed solidarity with the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured crew members.
The UAE stressed that the security of maritime navigation is a fundamental pillar of global economic stability and international trade. It called for greater regional and international cooperation to protect commercial vessels, ensure crew safety and preserve the security and stability of maritime navigation.
