UAE, Bahrain and Egypt condemn attack on ADNOC vessels in Strait of Hormuz

ABU DHABI, Aug 14: The UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have condemned an Iranian attack on two UAE vessels affiliated with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirms freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels or obstruction of international maritime routes. Abu Dhabi said using the Strait of Hormuz to target commercial shipping or exert economic pressure threatens regional stability and global energy security.

Bahrain called the incident an “Iranian terrorist attack” and said it violated international law and freedom of navigation. Manama expressed full solidarity with the UAE and support for measures taken to protect its security and vital interests.

Egypt also condemned the attack, warning that it threatens maritime security and freedom of navigation. Cairo expressed solidarity with the UAE and called for restraint, de-escalation and respect for international law to preserve regional security and stability.
