ABU DHABI, April 7 : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said Tuesday one person died of coronavirus to increase fatalities to 12, while 283 people tested positive for the virus to raise number of patients to 2,359.
Department of Health said in a statement 19 people have also recovered from the virus to make total recoveries 186.
It said the deceased was an Asian national who had a history of chronic diseases.
A Bahraini citizen who had a history chronic diseases died of coronavirus on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said as Crown Prince Salman Al-Khalifa reiterated importance people avoid gatherings and stay indoors.
The ministry said in a statement on its Twitter account that a 70-year-old citizen who was treated in one of the medical centers had died.
The ministry earlier today said 55 people tested positive for COVID-19 to reach number of cases to 349.
Prince Salman, speaking while chairing COVID-19 coordination committee, said the government's preventive measures have allowed people to leave their houses when necessary only.
The committee decided to continue closure of cinema theaters, gyms and some unnecessary health services, and allowed restaurants to offer delivery service.
The committee said these measures aimed at preserving wellbeing of the public. (KUNA)
