ABU DHABI, Mar 11: The United Arab Emirates’ air defence forces are countering a barrage of ballistic missiles launched from Iran, as the Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its readiness to protect the nation’s territory and citizens
According to the ministry, air defence systems on Tuesday detected nine ballistic missiles — destroying eight and seeing one fall harmlessly into the sea — alongside 35 drones, of which 26 were intercepted while nine landed within the UAE’s territory.
Since the onset of the attacks, UAE defences have tracked 262 ballistic missiles, destroying 241, with 19 falling into the sea and two impacting inside the country, and have intercepted more than 1,300 drones, the ministry said. Six fatalities and 122 injuries from previous interceptions have been reported among residents and expatriates of various nationalities.
