ABU DHABI, May 8: Air defence systems across the United Arab Emirates were actively intercepting incoming missile and UAV threats on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Defence, as residents in several areas reported hearing loud explosions and aerial activity.
In an official statement, the ministry said the sounds heard across the country were the result of ongoing engagement operations targeting hostile missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Authorities did not immediately disclose the origin of the threats or whether any damage or casualties had been reported.
The situation comes amid heightened regional tensions, with defence forces remaining on high alert as air defence systems continue monitoring and responding to aerial threats.
