UAE Air Defences Intercept 20 Missiles and 37 UAVs Amid Ongoing Iranian Attacks

ABU DHABI, Mar 28: The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defence systems intercepted 20 ballistic missiles and 37 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on 28 March 2026.

According to an official statement, UAE air defences have now engaged a total of 398 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,872 UAVs since the start of what it described as “blatant Iranian attacks.”

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the latest wave of attacks resulted in casualties, including two members of the UAE Armed Forces who were killed while performing their national duty. A Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces was also killed, along with eight foreign nationals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, and Indian origin.

Authorities further stated that 178 people were injured in the attacks, with injuries ranging from minor to moderate and severe. The injured include nationals from multiple countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.

The Ministry of Defence reiterated that UAE forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threats, stressing that they will “firmly confront” any actions aimed at undermining the country’s security, sovereignty, and stability, while safeguarding national interests and capabilities.
