UAE Air Defences Intercept 16 Missiles and 42 Drones as Conflict Toll Rises

ABU DHABI, Mar 29: The Ministry of Defence (United Arab Emirates) announced that its air defence systems intercepted 16 ballistic missiles and 42 UAVs launched from Iran on March 29, 2026, amid ongoing hostilities.

Since the escalation began, UAE forces have engaged a total of 414 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,914 drones, reflecting the scale of the sustained attacks.

The ministry confirmed casualties, including two Emirati service members killed in the line of duty and a Moroccan civilian contractor. An additional eight civilians of various nationalities were also reported killed, while 178 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.

Authorities emphasized that the armed forces remain on high alert and fully prepared to counter any threats, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding national security, stability, and sovereignty.
