LAS VEGAS, Oct 4, (Agencies): During their Las Vegas residency, the legendary rock band U2 paused to honor the late Sinead O'Connor. This heartfelt tribute unfolded at the stunning new Sphere venue in Vegas. Sinead O'Connor, a fellow Irish artist who passed away at the age of 56 in July, held a special place in the hearts of the band members.

Amid their electrifying concert, U2 surprised their audience by seamlessly transitioning into a snippet of O'Connor's iconic 1990 song, "Nothing Compares 2 U." This touching gesture paid homage to the talented singer, and fans eagerly captured footage of this emotional moment.

The band lineup, including Adam Clayton, Bono, the Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr., continued to honor the singer-songwriter while performing their own hit, "With or Without You." As Bono, at 63 years old, sang the final verse of this Grammy-winning fan favorite, the song transformed into O'Connor's timeless track, "Nothing Compares 2 U."

With passion in his voice and his gaze directed upwards, the frontman repeated the poignant lyrics, "Nothing compares to you." After the song concluded, Bono maintained his serene upward gaze, seemingly lost in thought, as he admired the artistic animal designs bathed in a gentle pink hue that adorned the spherical space.

Prior to this touching tribute, the "Beautiful Day" band had already expressed their sentiments about Sinead O'Connor's passing. Her death was shrouded in mystery, as it was under investigation with an autopsy report pending, with no clear medical cause disclosed. Back in July, U2 shared a photo of the artist and activist on their Instagram account. In the caption, they quoted lyrics from her 1986 collaboration with their guitarist, The Edge, who is 62 years old. The post read, "Touch these eyes with a broken smile, Touch my mouth with your furrowed brow, Lift my heart, heal my shame, Lead me into rest again... Heroine... Rest In Peace Sinéad."
