Two Turks Sentenced to Five Years for Fake Marriage Brokerage Scheme

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 8: Kuwait's Criminal Court has sentenced two Turkish nationals to five years in prison and fined them KD 150 after convicting them of impersonation and fraud through social media. One of the defendants posed online as a marriage broker and deceived a Kuwaiti citizen by claiming he could arrange a marriage with a girl, before forging a marriage contract and a certificate authorizing brokerage services, ultimately obtaining KD 250 through fraudulent means, following investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department.

The victim reportedly went to a “legitimate meeting” to see the girl but found that she was not present at the specified location. The court also ruled to suspend the execution of the second defendant’s prison sentence on condition of a KD 150 bail.
