LONDON, April 29: Two people were injured in a stabbing outside a synagogue in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from emergency services and community patrol volunteers.

Members of Shomrim, a Jewish neighborhood watch group, said they pursued and detained a man who was seen fleeing the scene with a knife. The suspect was restrained until police arrived, after which officers deployed a Taser and took him into custody.

The victims received immediate medical attention from the Hatzola ambulance service, a volunteer emergency response organization serving the local Jewish community. Their condition has not yet been officially disclosed.

The incident has raised alarm across the UK, with Keir Starmer describing the attack as “deeply concerning.” Addressing lawmakers, he stressed the importance of a thorough investigation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling violent incidents and ensuring public safety.

Police have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack, including potential motives, as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

The area around Golders Green, home to a significant Jewish population, remained under heightened police presence following the incident.

Meanwhile, UK police said a 45-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing outside a synagogue in London on Wednesday. Police said two victims were in stable condition and that the suspect also attempted to stab officers, though no police were injured. Authorities said they were working to establish the nationality and background of the arrested man.
