Two Saudi East-West Pipeline Stations Damaged In Drone Attack - Reuters

RIYADH, Sept 16: Two pumping stations serving Saudi Arabia’s vital East-West Pipeline were damaged in last week’s drone attack, with the timeline for repairs still unclear, Reuters reported, citing three oil and security sources.

The 1,200-km (745-mile) pipeline, operated by Saudi Aramco, was temporarily shut down on Friday following the attack, which Saudi officials said involved drones coming from Iraq.

The East-West Pipeline carries crude across the Arabian Peninsula to the Red Sea and has become increasingly important as shipping through the Strait of Hormuz faces severe disruption.

Saudi Aramco and the Saudi government did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

The damage to the pumping stations could affect the pipeline’s ability to move crude to the Red Sea, although the extent of the impact remains unclear.
