KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the smuggling of psychotropic substances, the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department for Drug Control, has successfully arrested four individuals in two separate cases involving large quantities of illegal narcotics.
In the first case, authorities uncovered a drug trafficking network operating across the Saad Al-Abdullah, Abdullah Al-Mubarak, and Hawalli areas. Three suspects were arrested inside Kuwait—two of whom were Ministry of Interior personnel, while the third was a stateless individual. Investigations revealed that the network was being managed by another (bedoun) stateless person residing in the United Kingdom. During the raid, officers seized 25 kilograms of marijuana, 100 Lyrica capsules, 2 grams of shabu, and 10 grams of hashish, with an estimated market value of KD 150,000.
In the second case, the department received intelligence about a Gulf national attempting to smuggle psychotropic substances into the country. Acting on the information, security personnel apprehended the suspect and seized approximately 500,000 Captagon pills, intended for distribution, with an estimated market value of KD 1 million.
The General Department for Drug Control reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug smuggling and trafficking networks, stressing that it continues to monitor and pursue all individuals and groups involved in such activities to safeguard society from the devastating impact of drugs.
