KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has arrested two individuals for trespassing into the Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve in a vehicle without license plates, allegedly intending to hunt.

According to the ministry, reserve security personnel detected the vehicle entering the protected area and alerted the operations room. The General Department of Emergency Police and the General Department of Criminal Investigation coordinated efforts to locate the suspects, who fled before being apprehended following search and investigation.

Investigators found that the individuals had removed the vehicle’s license plates before entering the reserve.

The Environmental Police issued citations against both individuals and referred them to the competent authorities for legal proceedings. The vehicle and hunting equipment were confiscated, and the vehicle was impounded and sent to the crusher.

Jail, fines for violating environmental law

The ministry cited Article 150 of Kuwait’s Environmental Protection Law, which stipulates that anyone violating Article 105 may face imprisonment for up to one year, a fine ranging from KD 500 to KD 5,000, or either penalty. The law also provides for the confiscation of hunting equipment and impoundment of the vehicle used in the violation.

The Ministry of Interior warned against entering nature reserves or restricted areas without authorization, stressing that violators would face legal action.

It said security personnel would continue to pursue and apprehend those responsible for such violations and take the necessary legal measures without exception.
