Two Arab expats arrested for doing drugs

KUWAIT CITY, July 31: Two expatriates – a Jordanian and an Egyptian – were arrested separately for consuming and possessing drugs, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, the Jordanian was arrested after he was seen sleeping inside his car at the signal intersection between Riqqa and Andalous. He appeared to be in a disoriented state, prompting securitymen to search his vehicle and find several cigarettes rolled with hashish.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian was arrested by a police patrol on routine duty in Farwaniya area for driving recklessly. He also appeared disoriented when caught and police found five sachets of methamphetamine in his car. The two drug addicts have been referred to the Drug Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Two Indian expatriates caught drunk: Two Indian expatriates were arrested separately for consuming liquor, reports Al-Anba daily. The first Indian suspect was arrested after the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a call about a motorist who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into some trees near the Al-Sadiq Roundabout in South Surra.

The suspect then ran away, leaving his car behind when police arrived at the scene. However, he was chased, seized and discovered to be highly intoxicated. The second suspect was arrested after an Asian taxi driver called 112 to report that a drunken Indian flagged him down for a ride and got into the taxi. Police hurried to the location in Nugra area and seized the suspect who had consumed liquor. Both suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Murder averted: A young man in his 20s was arrested and prevented from committing murder under the influence of alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources, an elderly Kuwaiti man called the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior, reporting about the obstinate son who detained his parents and younger brother and threatened to kill them with a knife. Farwaniya securitymen rushed to the house, negotiated with the suspect and controlled him very quickly. They discovered that he was highly intoxicated. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

 ‘Lover’ beaten: A young Kuwaiti man was seriously injured and sustained several fractures after he was beaten up by the brothers of his girlfriend, reports Al-Rai daily. The young man had sneaked into the house of his girlfriend but was unfortunately met by her brothers who assaulted him severely. He has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital.

Smart phones stolen: An unknown individual broke into a shop in Farwaniya area and stole 12 latest smart phones worth KD 3,240 and KD 700 cash, reports Al-Rai daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit. Meanwhile, fire engulfed two vehicles in the parking lot of Kuwait International Airport. No casualties were recorded, reports Al-Shahed daily. When firefighters received information about the vehicles on fire, they rushed to the location and extinguished it before it spread further. Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
