Two African Expats Arrested After Undercover Alcohol Purchase Sting

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 1: Detectives from the Salmi Police Station have referred two African expatriates to the Public Prosecution on charges of possessing alcohol with the intent to sell, following a security operation in the Mangaf area.

According to a security source, investigators acted on information that expatriates were involved in trafficking imported liquor. An undercover officer reportedly contacted one of the suspects and arranged to purchase a bottle for 100 dinars, with the exchange set at a well-known market in Mangaf. The suspect was arrested after receiving the money and delivering the bottle.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to storing additional quantities of alcohol at his residence and implicated a second expatriate in the illegal activity. Police later raided the apartment, where they arrested the second suspect and seized 48 bottles of imported liquor along with several empty cartons.

The source added that both individuals identified a suspected wholesale supplier of the alcohol, and authorities are now working to track and apprehend him after obtaining his contact details.
